Community Café Coordinator

£11.44 - £13 per hour (dependent on experience)

5 Hours Per Week (We hope to expand the provision subject to identified need and future grant funding)


Holbrooks Community Centre are looking for a personable, experienced, and motivated person to coordinate our popular Community Café on a Monday between 10:00am and 3:00pm

Initially the position is for five hours a week, but we hope to expand the provision subject to identified need and future grant funding.


The Role will Involve.

  • Cooking: You will be able to prepare a wide range of hot freshly prepared meals using fresh ingredients.  You will have the skills to safely use sharp knives, use ovens, grills, and hob-based cooking devices.
  • Meal prepping: You will be able to effectively cover several aspects of meal preparation, including cleaning and preparation of work surfaces, washing, and cutting ingredients, and separating ingredients into portions implementing food safety regulations into everything you do.
  • Health and safety: You will have a clear understanding of health and safety protocols and how it is essential to follow these. Good health and safety involve sanitizing all areas and equipment before and after usage, and regularly clearing spaces to prevent accidents.  Identify and respond to hazards in crowded workspaces.
  • Communication: Interacting with customers throughout the day, regularly communicating with them for feedback and suggestions to ensure that the Café is meeting their needs.

The centre provides a warm and supportive working environment allowing you to fully develop new skills and abilities that could then also help your employability.

Volunteering not only helps others but is beneficial to the volunteer also, you get to meet new people, give back to the local community, share your skills, or learn new ones, enhance your CV, gain confidence, and improve your mental wellbeing.

We are looking for committed volunteers who could help both Holbrooks Community Care Assocation (HCCA, by the Park on Holbrook Lane), and Holbrooks Community Association Community Centre, (HCA on John Shelton Drive) , with supporting the local community.

Current volunteer opportunities include:-
 Donation Collection drivers 
Social supermarket 
Reception
Meet and greet 
Local events
 Session support

Staff are happy to support volunteers in developing the skills required for these volunteer roles.
Travel expenses to and from the centre will be paid.
