Holbrooks Community Care Association Awarded £160,000 Big Lottery Grant to provide support and services to Holbrooks Residents

Holbrooks Community Care Association (HCCA), based on Holbrook Lane, have been a solid support to residents of Holbrooks for many years, providing help to those most in need in the Holbrooks area, including: advice and support, access to food packages, activities for children and young people, free training and throughout the Covid-19 lockdown provided regular hot meals to over 100 of Holbrooks most vulnerable residents.

Thanks to a successful application to the Big Lottery, they have secured funding for 2 years to work in partnership with Holbrooks Community Centre and expand their services to further meet the needs identified by those living in Holbrooks. The first new venture (of many) is going to be a Social Supermarket based at Holbrooks Community Centre which will enable those struggling financially to become members and have access to food items for just £5 per week. (information coming soon!)

As well as the social supermarket, they will be running consultations with Holbrooks residents about what they feel is needed in the area, identify gaps in services, and form partnerships with other organisations, bringing them into Holbrooks to provide support. They will be working closely with the community to ensure that their needs are being met.

Councillor Rachel Lancaster, who oversees the work of HCCA says:
“I am very proud of the team and the work we have done through HCCA. A special mention must be given to Emma Shires for her bid writing prowess. We have provided much needed support to those who felt that they were running out of options, with residents giving so much positive feedback. This feels like the next chapter in the life of HCCA and the team and I look forward to taking our services to the next level ensuring that the community are supported and their needs are met”

Holbrooks Community Care Association is based by the park on Holbrook Lane and are open
